Kyriarchy: a neologism coined by Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza, a blazing feminist theologian, and, according to her book Wisdom Ways, Orbis Books? New York? 2001… “derived from the Greek words for “lord” or “master” (kyrios) and “to rule or dominate” (archein) which seeks to redefine the analytic category of patriarchy in terms of multiplicative intersecting structures of domination…Kyriarchy is best theorized as a complex pyramidal system of intersecting multiplicative social structures of superordination and subordination, of ruling and oppression.”
Feminisms: Plural. ?There are so many different kinds. ?My definition: Feminism is unlocking the systematic oppression for all persons.
Pinay: (pronounced pin-NIE) A colloquial term for Filipina.? A Filipino woman.
Radical: In Latin, it means “the root.” I embrace this term which, for me, means to get at the truth.
Russia, Ohio: (pronounced ROO-shee) Nick’s hometown. ?A small town in western Ohio with no stop lights.

Ecdysis is a weird word.? How’d you come up with that?
A long time ago, in a conversation with a mentor, I was describing a time in my life where I felt like I was going through growing pains.? I was letting go of outdated versions of myself.? My mentor gave me the image of a snake shedding its skin as it moves.? Neither of us though had a name for that process.
Some months later, I was playing Scrabble with friends and someone asked me to look up a word.? Accidentally, I dropped the dictionary and it flopped open to the “E” section.? At the top of the page was the word “ecdysis,” and it caught my eye.? After briefly skimming the definition, I was shocked and immediately dog-eared it as it perfectly described what my mentor and I had been discussing.
